There exists another Dakar. A Dakar that is forgotten behind the trail of smoke an dust. A piece of earth that extends on to a trail of sand. Those children's lives exist of by a whirl wind of competitors. Smiling and extending their hands. Identities forgotten when the kilometres are forgotten. When the taste of Africa can no longer be felt in the mouth.

Children that live in the distance, through a window. Children without a name who remain there year after year. Without a past, without a future. Forming part of Lisbon-Dakar is like the sand. For this reason we run A Different Dakar. A Dakar that runs kilometres to give a future. A supportive Dakar that in each stage, in each phase, it leaves a trail of schools, of housing, and of hope. A Different Dakar runs the benefit of Children's Villages Africa and its project. Two teams that are one, fighting to achieve a double OBJECTIVE:

1º) To gain funds and sponsors in favour of the Children's Villages of Africa.
Thanks to the natural echo of the rally, the objective is to gain funds and sponsors between the audience of the competition and the following campaign that, after the rally and throughout the year, we can explain the other reality of Dakar.

2º) To be the best in the category.
To complement the main objective, the team was surprised in its 2007 debut with an excellent sports result and benefits a major reach of humanitary message, capturing the attention of bigger audience.

As a result, in the second edition, in 2008, we are planning on maintaining our attained objective in 2007. Arriving in Dakar being the leader in the amateur category. The team is prepared!!
